Why Should We Exfoliate?

By exfoliating your skin, you get rid of all the old dull skin cells and bring new and bright ones to the surface. Products will penetrate your skin more easily and your body will feel far silkier and smoother.

The frequency that you need to exfoliate will be down to your skin type. Older skins will need less to do so less often whilst some younger women like to scrub once or twice a week. Find a routine which suits your skin and keep with it.

Tools of Exfoliation

There are various ways in which to rid the skin’s surface of dead cells. The most popular of these is by using a scrub. You can buy these in any store and they work by sloughing off the old skin. They are gritty in texture and usually have moisturising properties too.

An exfoliating glove can work well but some people find that these are just too harsh for their sensitive skin. You would use the glove in the bath or shower along with your favourite moisturising shower gel.

A plain old rough washcloth will also do a perfect job of ridding your body of old skin. Just lather this up and away you go!

If you are willing to spend a little more then there are chemically formulated products which contain salicylic acid or glycolic acid and these will exfoliate your skin well.

Always remember however that if your skin is on the dry or sensitive side that you must use all skin care products with caution in the first instance. Also remember to moisturise extremely well after exfoliating. Enjoy your beautiful baby soft summer skin!
